County Wicklow Creek

I thought I should start practising my painting since I have no idea what I'm doing in that arena. Hence my interpretation of a stream/creek near the Monastery ruins in County Wicklow and hence the time lag between this and my last blog entry. Went and saw a Nigel Hewitt exhibition at Greenhill Galleries yesterday which was great. Something very much to aspire to.

This is beautiful! Can you tell us more about the media and what you were trying to do with technique?

Thanks :). Techniques wise - I used acrylics. For the tree I mixed it with impasto gel to make the tree shinier and to try to give it more texture so it would stand out more. The board is just board with gesso on.

I really like this particular piece It has a sense of depth of field (almost three-dimensional). It also sets a powerful mood.

I see this painting is from several years ago, but it caught my eye. This is very good. You definitely have talent.
